Empowering creators: The new wave of small business

Visa solutions are helping creators build and grow their businesses
11/12/2024

The way we work and earn money is fundamentally changing, driven by shifts in technology, culture and our personal values. Traditional 9-to-5 roles are giving way to more flexible models that offer people greater control over their time and where they work. Powered by digital tools and popular social platforms, this shift is giving creators new opportunities to monetize their skills, passions and personal brands.

Visa has recognized this new face of small business: Creators who are developing and monetizing content for digital platforms on a full or part-time basis, such as independent artists selling their work globally through online marketplaces; influencers earning income through brand partnerships and affiliate marketing; and niche creators garnering millions of views and followers, leading to sponsorships and product collaborations.

The creator boom

The impact of creators on the global economy highlights a new wave of entrepreneurship, where individuality and innovation powerfully contribute to global growth.

But as new entrepreneurs, creators face many of the same challenges as traditional small business owners, such as inconsistent cash flow, slow payouts, limited lending options and a lack of real-world business knowledge. To that end, Visa is empowering creators with its financial tools, resources and products that have helped millions of small businesses thrive globally.

Business products and discounts

Creators can access capital through Visa Business credit cards or get paid in real-time¹ to their Visa Business debit card. Visa Direct to Card delivers the option for creators to cash out funds in real-time.¹ For discounts on digital advertising services, creators can use Visa’s Visa SavingsEdge program to help reach new audiences.

Creator programs

Creators love what they do. We are helping them get paid faster doing it while connecting them with the broader creator community. Our GetP@id Series, a social video series, pairs aspiring creators with established fashion, music and food creators for a multi-week program that allows mentors to share their knowledge about what it takes to build a successful career and turn their passion into profit. Our Creator Summit is a two-day event that brings together creators to learn how to take the next step in their small business digital journey. The Visa Creator Program is a one-year immersion program to help creators navigate NFTs technology and better understand how they can monetize their creativity and extend their impact through new technologies.

The future of small business

Visa makes it easier than ever for creators and small business owners to access the digital economy and pay and get paid seamlessly. Beyond Visa Business credit and debit cards, Visa offers business reporting, payment controls, digital payment management platforms and financial education and business skills training through Practical Business Skills.

Creators are a powerful force in the global economy and are redefining what it means to succeed on a global scale. We’re doing our part to help them thrive as the digital economy continues to grow and take shape.
